Enviroment protection commitment can go hand in hand with the need to economic growth and creation of job opportunities through the development of a sustainable tourism.
For years now, CISP has been working in remote rural or internal areas to develop, in constant collaboration with local communities, authorities and civil society organisations, experiences and sustainable tourism paths that not only respond to the wishes of responsible tourists, but above all become an asset for the local economy, and a source of economic benefits for local people as well as an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of their own land, and to make the most of the beauties and heritage of their nature and history.
This is the case of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the enormous value represented by its natural resources which, through the project BioSvi - co-financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) - and its innovative management model successfully implemented in the Canton of Tuzla, even today, that the project is completed, it continues to create value for the territory. Our commitment in this area is still going on. The story continues. Indeed, it can be said that it has just begun.
PROTECTING NATURE AND EMPOWERING PEOPLE
Today, the special mention goes to the Kladanj Municipality, selected by CISP to team up with the start-up Globe Inside to implement the Digital Destination Tuzla (DDT) project.
Thanks to CISP's activities related to the protection and promotion of nature, the Tuzla Canton – situated near the country's eastern boarder – is beign successfully promoted as a sustainable turism destination.
Digital Destination Tuzla enhances the beauty of Bosnia and Herzegovina nature. While on the one hand it responds to the needs of responsible tourists and visitors, on the other it offers local young people the opportunity to find a job and develop their skills and competences in the best possible way.
For locals, being involved in a project aimed at developing their own territory as a sustainable tourism destination means participating in many different activities; in a relatively small area such as the Canton of Tuzla, everyone can contribute in welcoming tourists partecipating in activities suited to their skills: traditional crafts, food, accommodation, winter activities, walking or hiking, cycling, cave visits or visits to cultural and historical sites.
Along this development path, CISP carries out, at the same time, participatory cooperation with the local community, both with individuals and with numerous associations, including Žena Ženi Kladanj, Skilift Karaula, MIljkovac mountaineering association, Bikeclub Kladanj etc.
